Brief Description of the Project	The acronym ZIZABONA stands for Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia Transmission project. The project consists of the construction of the following key transmission lines;  Zimbabwe (Hwange) – Zambia Livingstone (Mukuni) – 101km (Hwange to border) and 14km (border to Mukuni)  Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) – Botswana (Pandamatenga) – 76km  Zambia (Mukuni) – Namibia (Zambezi) – 231km
Objective and Rationale for the Project	Its objective is to provide an alternative electrical power transmission in the region and de-congest the existing central transmission corridor that passes through Zimbabwe, thus boosting electricity trading among Member States. The project aims are to:  Interconnect the four countries  Create an alternative wheeling path between north and south, and  Decongest the Central Transmission Corridor for enhanced power trade among SADC countries.

Existing or Planned Projects along the proposed project	The project serves a planned infrastructure asset of another sector, but there is more than 50% overlap in the geography serviced by the proposed project and the other sector planned asset.
Please provide more details for your choice above	The project will increase transmission capacity and enhance power trade to DRC, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe which in turn will boast industrialisation along the corridor in line with the SADC industrialisation strategy and roadmap of 2015 to 2063.
