|Brief Description of the Project||This is a 98km at 220kV, identified as one of the least cost transmission project during development of the 2009 Tanzania Power System Master Plan and the East African Community Power System Master Plan.|
|Objective and Rationale for the Project||Provision of transmission capacity of 250MW to cater for Grid interconnection between Uganda and Tanzania.|
Provision of Transmission infrastructure to cater for future Grid interconnections to the East African Power Pool and Southern African Power Pool (SAPP), and the Great Lakes States Grid.
Improve reliability and security of supply of the interconnected grids.
Improve operational and technical performance of the interconnected grids.
Promote regional cooperation through sharing of power generation resources.
The rationale of the project is to provide part of the backbone of the transmission grid around Lake Victoria which will ultimately form the infrastructure for the EACPP.
